- Two club members James Chadwick and Jack Smallpiece made the long trip north to Hartlepool at the weekend. Chad did exceptionally well coming 1st in the 16-29 Cruiser (must be the new frame!!!) and Jack through to his A final was unfortunate enough to be involved in a huge crash at the first berm, all riders came toppling down. Well done to you both.
- A bit of work was carried out at the track last weekend and we hope the first berm is riding better now, although there is still a bit more to do. Thanks to all who came and helped.
- We would like to welcome to Bournemouth Raceway the new club mini tractor, I am sure you will all be seeing a lot more of him in the future
- Nice to see some good numbers at last weeks 'Open Race' night, look forward to seeing as many and more on 16th July!

Recent Track work |
|
- Last weekend saw some very hard work by club members and volunteers down at the track. Despite problems with diggers and dumpers everyone got stuck in with shovels and wheelbarrows and created some finishing touches to some of the jumps and upgraded others. The track is really riding well now and all the sweat and toil paid off. This is all good preparation for a Bournemouth National next year! Thanks to everyone young and old who came down and worked so hard.

- A good crowd made the trip to Herne Bay for round 3 of the South Regional championships, the riders and followers were greeted By sunny skies, 180 fellow competitors and a brand new 7, YES seven straights track lined the way with some 20 jumps.
- Jordan Hatcher and Elliot Pateman battled well all day in the 10's, in a very talented class with all the opposition being respected national standard riders..both demonstrated some great overtaking manoeuvres in all 4 races.
- Elliot came home in dominant style eventually winning all 4 of his races with his wingman Jordan plucking a fourth after a plucky ride in the final took him from last to 3rd.
- 'Not so fat' Zak made an impressive 2nd race appearance and 'pumped' his way to a seventh in the over 15 novices, plenty of improvements will come when he adds that BMX critical factor "pedalling" !
- Jack Smallpiece , still a little short on stamina and power, smoooooothed his way to a 2nd in the 15's experts.
- The old dodgers showed the way with Bernie Schale and Jon Moore both winning their respective classes..
- Roll on next week and Nationals rounds 4 and 5 at Mansfield

Coaches Corner |
|
- Well the dust of round 3 of the national series has settled
After each race we will try and give our (the coaches) take on most of the riders efforts you may not always like it, you may not always agree, but as my ol nanna Moore use to say "deal with it" that and "will you stop eating all the custard creams !"
- Coby 'factory' Joyce : A main 6th, couldn't ask for more in only 3rd national ,
- Rhys 'legs as fast as his gob' Trotter : A main , first of the season and first of many we hope, well done, work on pumping and first ten metres and you'll be top 4 in no time.
- Ben 'power' Draper:A main 5th , very good solid result and where he should be, maybe work on settling down a bit and riding smoothly and defiantly can improve your pumping...the first 15 mins at the track each time NO jumps just Pump.
- Elliot 'natural' Pateman : 4th B final, showed real class too get the win in his last moto after a crash in his first to qualify, got a feeling Elliot will be gutted he didn't make the A but no he will dig in and get there at Mansfield, still room for first straight improvement..fancy a few 12 crank sprints once or twice a week??
- Jordan 'The Jumper' Hatcher - if grit determination and guts were reward then Jordan will soon be right up there, racing in his first year of nationals, against older guys. Jordan was very unlucky not to qualify, but the training & early morning rides with the 'Old bill' on his tail are definitely paying dividends and IF Jordan keeps these up Iwill eat my gloves if he doesn't make an A or B final this year.
- Jack 'skills' Smallpiece - smoothed his way to a fifth in the A main at his first national of the year, knows there is a top 4 breakaway of strong fit riders in this age group, does he have the determination and will to do the work which will lift him up there??, or will he just be another rider who didnt quite fulfil his talent ...only he knows!!??
- Tom 'smooth as his Dads Gloss' Hall - unluckiest rider of the day crashes, punctures, pedals and people throwing themselves off in front of him, 7th in B final after trying to park his bike on a fallen rider. Tom almost identically to Jack could make the leap to the top echelons of this class with a little work, but still preferring a good chinwag with his chum to a few full track laps.
- Harvey 'as fast as anyone...after the gate' Almack - one his B final in his signature smooth style, but if he would get in the garage with Uncle Chad it would be the A !!
- Chad - A main 19+,second, arguably his best national result, and at last showing us what we have know he is capable of , a bit of hard work in his new garage facility is showing, great to see him competing on the 3rd and 4th straights..long may it continue
- Shane 'welsh grit' Trotter - 3rd in 30-39 , again I reckon his best national result cant knock that..
- For those who love their stats we are sitting 12 out of 50 in the club points, with Decoy and Peckham sitting pretty on the top, both I and Lewis firmly believe in the club we have the talent to match and top these....see you at coaching and training next tuesday ???

- It was good to see a strong contingent representing the club at Cheddar over the weekend, there were we think 13 riders taking part in the National series along with a good group of supporters. There were some great rides from Bournemouth members, both young and (not so young). You can find the full results on the British Cycling web site. See link contained in the 20th Jan news below, go into BMX news on the site, look up calendar and results and then click into Cheddar 27th April. You will see how well our riders did.
- The Bournemouth gazebo was very prominent and we hope to make it the club base at all regional and national races in the fuure. Thanks to all who helped pack it away, made life a lot easier. Well done again to all our riders over the weekend and hope to see you all at club practice Wed evening without water pistols!.
