Chairman’s Welcome
We have reached the half way point of this year’s summer season and I’d like to start by thanking everyone who came along and helped at the Bournemouth regional at the end of June. With just under 400 riders, it was one if the busiest races we have held for quite a while and also one of the smoothest run. It just shows what we can achieve when we all pull together as a club. We were visited by the new Mayor – and the last of 127 Mayors of the Borough of Bournemouth, which merges with Christchurch and Poole next year – and several Ward Councillors who were all very impressed by the event. We look forward to their support for our future plans and ongoing development of the club and facilities.
With the weather being hot (and it looks like it’s staying for a while yet!) please make sure to take plenty of fluids with you for track sessions and stay hydrated; also, please make sure you wear the correct clothing and kit…it’s tempting when it’s hot not to, but the ground is even harder and crashes still happen, so stay safe.
We have another of our summer club series races coming up soon, as well as regional racing in Kent at Hersden and up the road in Knightwood, plus the next national round in Telford in early August.
For those wanting to race at the British Championships in Blackpool in September you will need to race 5 regional rounds to qualify and also you will also need a South Region race shirt, which are available to order from South Region BMX via the Facebook page and website.
Finally, best wishes and healing vibes to Oakley Hassell who took a tumble at Hayes and will be out of action for a while. We wish him a speedy recovery and a huge thanks to everyone involved in getting him and Steve to the hospital.
